If you do not accept the terms of this Legal Disclaimer, then
DO NOT COME TO OUR MEETINGS, DO NOT CONTACT US,
DO NOT READ OR USE ANY OF OUR PUBLICATIONS OR HANDOUTS,
DO NOT READ OR USE ANY INFORMATION ON THIS WEBSITE.
We are a self-help group of non-lawyers. Our leadership, mail/e-mail responders, and telephone responders are all non-lawyer volunteers. If we state laws incorrectly, misrepresent ourselves, our personal histories, legal issues, make errors, or even if some member intentionally misleads, then you are still responsible for yourself.
We couldn't possibly have the free and open exchanges characteristic of our membership, and self-help groups in general, if every utterance were subject to judicial review.
This openness of exchange especially applies to our Guest Attorneys and Guest Speakers. They volunteer to come to our meetings. We never pay them. They never pay us. Members may individually choose to have contractual relationships with various guests at various times.
At our meetings, you're likely to hear from men and women in the middle of traumatic, intensely emotional, legal, financial, social, and family law issues. They are especially vulnerable and even more likely to make mistakes.
We NEVER ENDORSE people, products, or websites: Links, referrals, and references are only suggestions.
Always retain your own attorney to evaluate advice, whether here, at our meetings, or elsewhere. Especially if you need legally protected privacy.
In Maryland, there is NO RIGHT TO PRIVACY in self-help groups like ours, in 12-step groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, and in many counseling situations even when court ordered.
We do not distribute our membership lists without your permission, nor do we insist on your true identity (beyond confirmation that you are a current paid member). We are well aware that home situations for many members are highly unstable while their issues are developing.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for everything you choose to reveal about yourself, your issues, and anything else anyone might infer from your contacts with us.
